 Hello reader, this is my action project for Design and Engineering unit# at GCE Lab school. During this unit, my classmates and I learned about the design process and what it means to design and engineer something. In the last week, we have taken a look around our school and noted some issues with a room of our choice. I chose the back hallways which are the safest part of the building due to its lack of windows and easy access to an emergency exit. For this Action Project, we have been tasked with creating a student lounge based on the room we chose. We took a field experience to the Harold Washington Library Center to look around the Youmedia teen lounge and get inspiration for the lounges that we are designing. These designs took a lot of time and effort in the past two days and all of that culminated in the final design I will be showing and detailing here!

    Hello reader, this is my action project for Rhetoric unit#1 at GCE Lab school. During this unit my classmates and I learned about how to develop an arguement and rhetorical. In the last week, we have taken a look at A Peoples History of the United States, which is a book that takes a look at US history from the perspective of the losers. We read the first chapter which details Christopher Columbus arriving in America. For this Action Project, we had to create a picture book that details what Columbus did in America without being too violent or graphic, as the picture book is meant for kids. We took a trip to the Harold Washington Library Center to get into the writing style of picture books meant for small children. All of this combined into the final product I have here, so I hope you enjoy my book!

  Hello reader, this is my action project for Cure unit#3 at GCE lab school.  During this unit we learned a lot about preventative care and alternative/holistic medication.  Things like acupuncture, nutrition, preventative surgeries, DIY natural remedies, and holistic mental health care.   We particularly took a deep look at cancer related preventative care.  We also got to have an experience with a Doctor of holistic medicine named Dr.Karen Johnson, who came into our classroom and taught us about inflammation, insulin resistance, mental health, and alternative pain regulation. Overall I learned a lot this term. For this action project I am acting as a doctor to a patient with a genetic condition I have called Ehlers-Danlos. I have done a slideshow with  its risk assessment, therapies that help regulate it, nutrition that improves the symptoms, and helpful medications. This is the final product.   Hello reader, this is my action project for Drama third unit 3 at GCE Lab school. During this unit my classmates and I learned about what a patriarch is,specifically the difference between a matriarch and a patriarch. We also learned about racism, classism, redlining, and assimilation.   We looked further into these concepts by reading the play "A Raisin In The Sun”  which is a play about a household matriarch named Mama who became a widow after her husband died. Due to his death she received a large amount of insurance money. Mama is the matriarch to a family of 5. This black family of 5 decides to move to an all white neighborhood in Chicago but it did not end well. For this project I created a Greek chorus. A Greek chorus is a group of people portraying the emotions and beliefs of the majority about what is happening in a particular scene of a play.   Hello reader, this is my action project for Drama unit#2 at GCE Lab school. During this unit my classmates and I learned about what a doll is. Specifically what a doll is in the context of a person. To look further into this concept my classmates and I read the play " A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen which is a play about a girl named Nora who is married to a man named Torvald who I call the " doll master" who made sure she stayed home all day with their children and would not let her eat cookies because it would make her fat. But at the end of the play Nora leaves Torvald and their children. This challenged the gender norms at the time the book was written because women were expected to stay home with their children and Nora challenged this by leaving that life behind. I believe that what Nora did was good because she left a life not worth living but she has a responsibility to her children that she didn't uphold. I had to challenge my own views on gender ...

  Hello reader, this is my action project for Cure unit#2 at GCE lab school.  During this unit we learned a lot about pharmaceutical medication. We learned  About how to read and understand a FDA approved over the counter medication label.  Things like active and inactive ingredients, dosages, intended effects, side effects, and poison control numbers. We also learned how common over the counter medication works.. We particularly took a deep look at painkiller medication and how it functions in the body.  We also got to have an experience with a professor from UIC who came into our classroom and taught us the FDA  approval process for a drug. My classmates and I also got to do a fun experiment with miracle berry tablets which are made from a special west African berry that contains a lectin ( plant protein)  that reshapes your sour taste buds to sweet ones for 15 to 20 minutes.  Hello reader,  This is my action project for Spanish class. For this assignment my classmates and I built a quipeneta doll. The purpose of this action project was to learn about fashion and clothing in spanish but also to learn about the history of  quipeneta dolls and Guatemalan culture. I learned how to talk about quipeneta  dolls in Spanish and how they are built. I struggled with using the -ir, -er, and -ar verbs. I liked the creativity of this project. This is my submission.
