FK AP Unit #1 Food

 Hello reader, This is my action project for Food unit #1. For this assignment I was supposed to take 3 everyday containers and plant bean seeds. 1 of which was filled with “good soil” or soil from a store, as opposed to the other 2 which were filled with “ bad soil” or soil from my backyard ( I actually used soil from my garden). Once we have done this we were assigned to ask questions about what will happen. Then create a hypothesis ( what we think will happen). Now a little about the course. Food is a STEAM course which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. We used fuel as a medium to learn these topics. The 2 main lessons we learned in class revolved around math and science, biology in particular. We learned about ecosystems, An ecosystem is a system which includes:  living organisms, physical environment, Ecology, the study of the distribution, abundance, and interaction across population, communities, and ecosystems. A good example of an ecosystem is the classroom. We also learned about some pretty interesting farmers like a man named Ron Finley, a man who changed his community by turning vacant lots into gardens. “  Liquor stores, fast food, and vancite lots. Like 26.5 million Americans I live in a food desert.” - Ron Finley. We also looked at a man named Mr. Fukuoka, who is a rice farmer that has four main principles. Those four principles being NO CULTIVATION,NO CHEMICAL FERTILIZER OR PREPARED COMPOST, NO WEEDING BY TILLAGE OR HERBICIDES, and NO DEPENDENCE ON CHEMICALS. “ He uses no persistent or broad-spectrum poisons, and has no pesticide "program."] From the time that weak plants developed as a result of such unnatural practices as plowing and fertilizing, disease and insect imbalance became a great problem in agriculture.” As for science we learned about things like hydroponics, companion plants, and much more!!!

  As you can see this is a photo of my water filter. I used a tea kettle and drilled a hole in it and inserted a piece of quarter inch copper piping that I coiled around a water bottle. Unfortunately this does not work very well because the epoxy heat proof coating I use to seal the copper to the stainless steel cracked and steam leaks out of it. So in order to fix this I ended up using the spigot that was already on the kettle and luckily I had a compression knob lying around and put the compression knob on the spigot and put the spigot in a bowl that I covered with a silicone Bowl cover and was able to get about 2 to 3 tablespoons of water however I could have gotten more.  Before filter:                                               After filter:                  Before filter:           ...

FK Unit#2 Action Project for stories " The Tail of The Arrogant Lion " 10/18/21

     This is my unit#2 action project for stories. For this action project I was supposed to create a fable that has characters with anthropomorphic features and a strong,clear moral. I chose to make my characters lions because they represent the moral of my story. The moral of my fable is arrogance comes with consequences, and humility comes with rewards. I chose lions because I believe lions are the most arrogant animal. This is a fable about a lion named Brian who is very arrogant but also very insecure.  This is a fable version of a previous action project.   Enjoy! FK Action Project For A Nations Argument Unit#1 "One Should Know How To Sharpen Their Bows And String Their Swords"

Hello Reader, This is my action project for the first unit of "A Nation's Argument class", a humanities course in which we study how arguments are composed and their use throughout history, particularly in the establishment of nations. This unit's central question was "How is a country reasoned into existence?" In order to understand how an argument is constructed using premises and conclusions, we looked to the Declaration of Independence. On top of that, we discovered what deductive reasoning is and how it uses principles to support claims. We had the opportunity to speak with the principal of a Montessori school during our external research and learn more about the values that guide the teaching of children at his and other Montessori schools. For this AP I created my own declaration of independence to study physiology and why it is my right as a student do so. Enjoy!
