classroom redesign
Hello reader,
For the first action project of 2021 - 22 year at GCE Lab School, everyone was divided into groups and sent to a classroom to modify it for the upcoming school year. Each group had basically no budget to do this project due to the fact that the school recently purchased a new space, meaning everything had to come from the building or a group member's house. Now the reason. The reason the school decided to allow the students to redo the classrooms is because they will be the ones learning in it and since we don’t have a budget to make it crazy and since we were in highschool they believed we could handle it. My group was assigned the Screening Room and the Cooler ( the spaces are attached). We didn't do too much to the Cooler, but we made some cool changes to the Screening room such as adding a projector we found downstairs, a whiteboard we found downstairs, lapboards to work on the floor, and ( a working progress) aquaponics system to have some plants in the space. The two main classes this room will be used for are journalism and stories. I don’t know very much about either of these classes but given the name I assume it contains a lot of listening to stories, and not a lot of table space or arts and crafts supplies will be needed. Another portion of the assignment was for every stakeholder( a person who is involved in the school) to sign a contract created by everyone. The contract consisted of what make makes a good student ( we came up with: works in a timely fashion, curious, doesn’t distract, pays attention, encouraging, and participates) and what makes a good teacher ( we came up with: willing to accept feedback, accommodating/flexible, patient, provides one on one time/pleasant, excited to teach, understanding). Now that you know, here's the rooms.
