Critical Race Theory
Critical race theory is an academic movement made by scholars during the civil rights movement. What critical race theory is, has been changed many times throughout the years. Modern critical race theory is believed ( by some) to teach anti whiteness to children. But others believe critical or necessary to be a reflection on race in general and is ment to unteach racist beliefs. How has CRT been politicized? Well I believe that CRT has always been seen as political because race itself has always been political. USA today found that 8 out of 10 parents who identify as democrats believe their children should learn about slavery and its modern day impact whereas 4 out of 10 parents who identify as republican di9sagree. A person who dors not believe that CRT is political would say that race isn't political because it's people's lives and that can't be political. I believe that race should not be political but sadly it is. " Race has been a defining issue in American politics since before the country formally came into existence, a dividing line marked by generations of struggle and conflict." States the Washington post. They are saying that race is a political issue and has been for a long time. Also without needing to dig up a source we can look at what's happening in the world right now. Such as the protest and ( some would say) riots due to the death of George Floyd. The issue became very political, with democrats starting the protests because they believed Floyd's death to be an act of racism and the republicans disagreeing and believing it was just bad policing or that it was Floyd's fault because he was resisting. So due to this I believe that race is political there by CRT is also political whether or not it should be.
