Hello Reader, This was our 1st unit of Urban Planning called "Load". During this unit, we focused on truss bridges and their mathematical concepts, using only 75 popsicle sticks and glue to build bridges that could support 10 lbs and span a minimum of 18 inches. The bridge designs were completely up to us, and we were encouraged to be creative. This project mirrored the work of Mark Bennett, an urban planner for Chicago who has to work within resource constraints. Our efforts gave us better understanding of the dynamics of bridge engineering and how to apply mathematical concepts to our designs. Furthermore, we gained insight into the challenges faced by urban planners, who must successfully balance design creativity with material limitations engineering requirements.  Hello reader,  This is my final action project for "A Nations Argument". In this class, we learned about arguments that took place in the civil war. Which is most known for its fights not arguments. We also defined the difference between a fight and an argument. We also learned about conflicts between free and slave states. We learned about other things such as the constitution and its amendments How their arguments were presented, have changed over time, and the importance of rights. After learning about the constitution and historical arguments. I am now going to amend the "GCE constitution" and connect it to an amendment of the constitution. I also met with Andy Clarno, where we discussed our current course topics and relevant events happening around us, and listened to a yale lecture by David Blight surrounding a lot of our information on the civil war.   Hello, reader! This is my action project for Unit #3 of "Light, Sound, & Time." Throughout this unit, we have delved into the world of time, its measurement, and how we use time in our day to day lives. We began by exploring how time is used to determine the longitude and latitude at sea through GMT or the position of the sun at noon. The fundamentals of sundials, arc calculations, etc. With space as the backdrop, we dove into general relativity and time dilation. In a fascinating discussion, Taylor Hoyt shared his experiences of studying astronomy and cosmic phenomena with us. We also looked into the physics of pendulums and advanced math behind them. Overall, this unit provided a broad understanding of time, its measurement, and the exciting discoveries it can unlock in the world around us.  Hello reader,  This is my action project for Light, Sound, & Time unit#2. During this unit we learned about sound. How sound sounds, how sound looks, how sound feels. What sound is. The method they move in (waves). To learn more I went to learn about how instruments are made at a violin shop in the loop. I also went to Chicago Hearing Society to learn about visual impairments, the scale of severity when it comes to hard of hearing, how a deaf/hard of hearing person goes about getting assistance/treatment, and how the ear works. For this project I created a diddley bow which is a single string instrument. I then calculated and measured the fret points. My diddley bow creates sound by the vibrations of the strings echoing around the inside of the tin can (mine has quite a nice twang). Hello Reader, This is my action project for the first unit of "A Nation's Argument class", a humanities course in which we study how arguments are composed and their use throughout history, particularly in the establishment of nations. This unit's central question was "How is a country reasoned into existence?" In order to understand how an argument is constructed using premises and conclusions, we looked to the Declaration of Independence. On top of that, we discovered what deductive reasoning is and how it uses principles to support claims. We had the opportunity to speak with the principal of a Montessori school during our external research and learn more about the values that guide the teaching of children at his and other Montessori schools. For this AP I created my own declaration of independence to study physiology and why it is my right as a student do so. Enjoy!

Hello reader, This is my action project for Light, Sound, & Time unit 1. During this unit we learned about light: what light is, how light is preceived, how light works, and how eyes work. For this action project I created a pinhole camera. A pinhole camera is box painted pitch black with a small hole and a lens cover. I then put photo paper inside that box to create a camera. I then used the trigonometey concepts I learned in this unit. A pinhole camera captures light through the aluminum lens and then the cap seals it off so that the inside is completely pitch black which then captures the image in front of the lens which then hits the paper. Hello reader, this is my Action project for art of rhetoric unit 3. This unit was about uniting people together. First we had to learn what divides people before we can learn what unites them. We looked at ways others have been united, particularly with policies. My classmates and I went on a field experience to two unique places that have worked to unite a certain population. First we went to the uptown neighborhood to meet with 48th ward neighbors for justice. This organization challenges the status quo in many ways related to housing, incarceration and police, and even methods of mental health treatment accessibility. Next we went to a place called Civic projects where my class and I learned about how Civic Projects works on ethical architecture projects that benefit the community instead of putting more money in their pockets.
